Whippany Burying Yard, Fourth of July

Morris County Historical Society is pleased to partner with local historians and history organizations to present a Morris County Walking Tour Series that celebrates the area’s rich and diverse past. From April through October, join us for nearly 40 guided walking tours that explore almost two dozen communities throughout Morris County, with topics ranging from unique historic districts, downtowns, and neighborhoods to local industries that shaped the landscape, and the individuals who left a lasting impact.

Celebrate July 4th with a guided walking tour of the Whippany Burying Yard, Morris County’s first colonial graveyard, founded in 1718. Learn more about the site’s significance to the area and the notable community members buried there, including soldiers from the French and Indian War, American Revolution, and Civil War. Costumed guides will bring Whippany’s rich history to life with stories from historical figures. Parking is available in the Casa de Montecristo Cigar Parking Lot, 301 NJ Route 10, East, Whippany, NJ.
