Morris County is often called the Crossroads of the Revolution, with more Revolutionary War battles and encampments that arose in New Jersey than any other colony — and Morris County hosted many of the central figures from that era and has preserved numerous historic sites where key events unfolded. It will all be the focus of celebratory events throughout 2025 and 2026.
We invite you to discover and celebrate the extraordinary contributions of Morris County to the American Revolution, a legacy that helped create the United States.
Morris County is home to Morristown National Historic Park, the nation’s first National Historic Park, where George Washington and his Continental Army wintered twice. Morris County’s historical impact extends far beyond the Revolution, offering a diverse array of sites like Historic Speedwell, where the telegraph was born, and the remarkable Morris Canal. Strategically located between New York, Philadelphia, and Boston, Morris County occupies a pivotal position, making it easily accessible for both regional and national visitors seeking historical and cultural experiences.

Winter was one of the Continental Army’s toughest enemies. During the Morristown encampments, soldiers faced brutal cold, scarce supplies, and long marches—yet their resilience helped sustain the fight for independence.
As we celebrate the 250th, we’re proud to work alongside the many historical organizations preserving Morris County’s stories—including museums, heritage groups, parks, and preservation societies.

🚨 8TH ANNIVERSARY BEER ANNOUNCEMENT 🚨
Morris County earned the title Crossroads of the American Revolution for a reason—this land holds the stories, sacrifices, and sites that helped shape America’s fight for independence.
Long before highways and railroads, the Morris Canal powered New Jersey’s early economy. Built to transport Pennsylvania coal across the state, the 102-mile canal became an engineering marvel—featuring 23 lift locks and 23 water-powered inclined planes that raised boats nearly 100 feet at a time.

A new traveling exhibit is now on display at the Morris County Library in Whippany, spotlighting the lesser-known New Jersey residents whose lives, labor, and choices shaped the Revolutionary era. As we approach America’s 250th anniversary, the exhibit invites visitors to explore the diverse, often divided experiences of ordinary people living through extraordinary times right here in New Jersey.
The exhibit is free to visit and open during regular library hours throughout the month.

This January, we are adding something special to the taproom, and it’s all arriving just in time for our 8th Anniversary Bash on Saturday, Jan. 24 (with live music 6-9pm from john_pronto & special merch).
Throughout the year, coinciding with America’s 250th, we will be brewing a series of traditional ales, inspired by the beers that would have been on tap during the Revolutionary era. These beers will all be cask conditioned and served from our new Beer Engine Hand Pump, creating the most authentically traditional and true-to-history experience that we can produce with modern methods. Each beer will be brewed with as many local NJ ingredients that we can source.
We’re calling the first beer in this historical series Robert Hare’s Porter. Robert Hare was a brewer in Philadelphia during the American Revolution who brewed a porter to rival those coming in from England at the time. His porter was a favorite beer of George Washington, Ben Franklin, and John Adams. Our version is brewed with grain from Rabbit Hill in Shiloh, NJ, and we roasted 50lbs of grain ourselves to get the darker roasted color that is characteristic of a porter.
FNBC’s Robert Hare’s Porter features an aroma of roasted barley and chocolate, with a medium malt-forward body, and a slight semi-sweet chocolate character that leads into a long-lingering roasted finish.
Robert Hare’s Porter drops during our Anniversary Bash on 1/24 when doors open at noon! This beer is ON TAP ONLY. No to-go options available (the hand pump doesn’t do growler fills). So come drink it in our tavern—ahem, taproom—and think about the Revolutionary times in our country’s history.
AND, if you can’t wait, we’ll be releasing something else new TOMORROW! 🎉 Stay tuned for deets. 👀
