MORRISTOWN, NJ — Step back in time on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 11 AM–5 PM as you explore Morristown’s historic homes and the streets where American history unfolded during Macculloch Hall Historical Museum’s (MHHM) 2026 Historic District House Tour. Offered just once every two years, this year’s self-guided tour features seven private residences, a featured garden, the historic Kellogg Club, and Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, creating a rich and varied experience that celebrates the architecture, landscapes, and history of Morristown’s Historic District.
The tour begins at MHHM, located at 45 Macculloch Avenue, where participants pick up their tour guidebook before exploring the Museum’s galleries and gardens. From there, guests set out at their own pace, visiting each featured property in any order they choose, with every location conveniently within walking distance of the Museum.
Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Morristown’s Historic District showcases more than two centuries of architectural design, from elegant Georgian and Classical influences to the ornate beauty of Queen Anne Victorian homes. Whether you are a history enthusiast, architecture lover, gardener, or simply curious to see behind doors that are rarely open to the public, the tour offers a unique glimpse into one of New Jersey’s most significant historic neighborhoods.
As MHHM’s largest fundraiser, the Historic District House Tour supports the Museum’s mission while inviting the community to experience and celebrate Morristown’s history. Proceeds directly support the preservation of Macculloch Hall’s 216-year-old house and gardens, conservation of the Museum’s collections, and year-round educational programming.
Tickets are $75 in advance and $85 on the day of the event, subject to availability. Organizers encourage guests to purchase tickets in advance, as the popular event sells out quickly. Founded in 1950, Macculloch Hall Historical Museum preserves and interprets the historic Macculloch family home, gardens, and collections—including the work of renowned political cartoonist Thomas Nast—inviting visitors to experience American history where it happened.
