The New Jersey Militia in the War for Independence at the Mendham Township Library

On Tuesday, April 7th at 7pm, join military historian, John Dwyer as he presents The New Jersey Militia in the War for Independence at the Mendham Township Library.
Join John Dwyer as he takes us back in history portraying a solider serving in the Continental Army. John will explore the role the New Jersey militia played in the Revolutionary War. Topics covered include what a New Jersey militia member wore, what they carried, how they fought, what they ate, what they were paid, and what they did to support Washington’s Army. Audience members will get an up-close, hands-on experience as John passes around typical gear and belongings of a solider. He will also discuss militia training, Tories in New
Jersey, the raid on Flemington, stopping the London Trade, and American privateers.

About John Dwyer:

John is a retired United States Army Colonel with more than 37 years of service. He is a Jersey native and currently makes his home in Clinton Township, NJ. He is a military historian with extensive collections of soldier gear and equipment from both the Revolutionary War period as well as World War Two. He also collects and displays WW2 Army Jeeps.
