Blackwell Street Historic District & Orchard Street Cemetery
Morris County Historical Society is pleased to partner with local historians and history organizations to present a Morris County Walking Tour Series that celebrates the area’s rich and diverse past. From April through October, join us for nearly 40 guided walking tours that explore almost two dozen communities throughout Morris County, with topics ranging from unique historic districts, downtowns, and neighborhoods to local industries that shaped the landscape, and the individuals who left a lasting impact.
Take a walk through the Blackwell Street Historic District followed by a tour of the 1851 Orchard Street Cemetery. See local, notable sites including George Richard’s Building, Baker Opera building, Nation Union Bank, Harris Building , Baker Theatre, Dr. Condict’s House, and Triangle Park and learn more about the families behind them. Printed materials will be available in English and Spanish for the Blackwell Street Historic District and an interpreter will be available if needed for the Blackwell Street walk. The tour will take place at 1:00pm & 4:00pm, beginning at the entrance to the Orchard Street Cemetery, with parking available in the public parking lot, Lot C and Lot D off of Orchard Street or on the local streets.
